Pre-Operative Assessment
At the pre-operative assessment which takes approximately 1 hour, we use special instruments to take various measurements of the eye to investigate the exact nature of your vision problem, revealing which type of procedure would be best. These include corneal mapping, pupil measurements, corneal thickness calculations, IOL Master measurements, and corneal centration photography. Thus, when the actual procedure is undertaken, we know exactly how to plan your procedure. You will be informed at this stage if you are suitable for surgery. |

At this visit you will also be asked to sign an Informed Consent Agreement. As with all legal documents, it is important to read and fully understand this document before signing it. You will be able to drive immediately after your pre-operative assessment as we use a non mydriatic retinal camera to photograph the back of your eyes, i.e., There is no need to use dilating eye drops at this stage.
Contact Lens Wearers
If you are a hard contact lens wearer, surgery will normally take place one month after discontinuation, however we will be pleased to fit you with soft lenses, if necessary, for the first three weeks of this period. |
