  • Vascular TreatmentsRead More

Thread veins which are also sometimes called spider veins, telangiectasia or reticular veins, are prominent, small, superficial veins. Sometimes these veins are just prominent normal skin veins (these are termed reticular veins) or abnormal small veins in the skin which form either spontaneously or as the result of trauma or bruising.

Injections (Sclerotherapy) are the most common treatments. All the treatments work by damaging the vessel wall so that either the vein clots and then disappears or the walls of the vein stick together and the vein disappears.

The final cosmetic result of vascular treatment varies; sometimes the vein will disappear completely but usually if looked at closely there will be some remnant or light stain where the vein was. When observed from a reasonable distance, the result is usually described as being from good to excellent with the majority of patients pleased with the improvement to the point that the area of concern no longer bothers them.

  • Scar RevisionRead More

The surgeon will establish whether you want scar revision to reduce the appearance of the scar, reduce the tightness of the scar or both. The size of the scar, location, character of the scar (raised or depressed) will determine what type of treatment you will have. Chemical peels containing glycolic acid or lactic acid improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers and may help reduce acne scarring.

Laser Skin Resurfacing uses heat to destroy the top layer of your skin and can help soften rough or raised scars. Scar excision methods involve cutting the scar to reduce or reposition it. After a local anaesthetic it may take several hours before the feeling comes back into the treated area. Take special care not to bump or knock the area. After a chemical peel or laser therapy, your skin will be red and very sensitive. The redness can last three to six months and you will need to protect your skin from the sun for up to a year.

Scar revision is done as a day case under local anaesthetic. Once healed, massage the area with a simple moisturiser to help the skin soften and improve circulation.

  • Mole RemovalRead More

Moles on the skin can be troublesome and unsightly. If you are wanting a mole removed then our surgeon can do this for you. A biopsy will be taken and sent for analysis if there are any suspicions. The area around the mole will be numbed using a local anaesthetic. Once the anaesthetic has taken effect the surgeon will then remove the mole. You may feel a little tugging but nothing untoward. Mole removal is a simple procedure and is quick and effective.
